About the Journal

The Irsa Journal of Sports Studies and Physical Education (IJSSPE) is an open-access, peer-reviewed academic journal established in 2026 and published in Babylon, Iraq.

The journal provides an academic platform for researchers, academics, postgraduate students, professionals, and practitioners to disseminate original research and scholarly contributions in sports studies, physical education, exercise science, and related interdisciplinary fields.

IJSSPE is committed to promoting scientific research, academic communication, and evidence-based knowledge in the fields of sport and physical education. The journal welcomes contributions from researchers in Iraq and internationally.

Mission

The mission of IJSSPE is to publish and disseminate high-quality scholarly research that contributes to the development of knowledge in sports studies, physical education, exercise science, and related disciplines.

The journal aims to provide an accessible academic platform for researchers, academics, postgraduate students, and professionals to communicate research findings, exchange scientific knowledge, and contribute to evidence-based practices in sport and physical education.

IJSSPE also seeks to encourage academic cooperation and interdisciplinary research at national and international levels.

The journal accepts original research articles, systematic and narrative reviews, experimental studies, methodological and technical contributions, and other scholarly works within its scope.

Manuscripts must be original, must not have been previously published, and must not be under consideration for publication in another journal.

IJSSPE is a fully open-access journal. All published articles are freely available to readers immediately upon publication without subscription or access restrictions.

Readers may access, read, download, and share published articles in accordance with the applicable Creative Commons license.

Publication Frequency

IJSSPE is published biannually, with two issues per year.

The publication schedule may be updated by the journal when necessary and will be communicated through the journal website.

Language of Publication

The primary language of publication is English , Arabic

Manuscripts must be prepared in clear academic English and comply with the journal's Author Guidelines.

Peer Review

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening to assess their suitability for the journal's scope and basic publishing requirements.

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent for peer review by qualified reviewers with relevant expertise.

The editorial decision is based on the reviewers' comments, the quality and originality of the manuscript, its methodological soundness, and its relevance to the journal's scope.

Publication Ethics

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use

IJSSPE recognizes the responsible use of artificial intelligence and generative AI tools in academic publishing.

Authors may use AI tools for supportive purposes such as language improvement, grammar correction, translation, and formatting.

Any substantive use of generative AI in manuscript preparation must be disclosed in accordance with the journal's AI Use Policy.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and scholarly content of their manuscripts.

AI tools must not be used to fabricate, falsify, or manipulate research data, results, references, citations, or other scholarly information.

AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.

Journal History

IJSSPE was established in 2026 as an independent academic journal dedicated to sports studies, physical education, exercise science, and related fields.

The journal was developed to provide an open-access platform for the dissemination of scholarly research and to encourage academic communication and collaboration among researchers in Iraq and internationally.

As a newly established journal, IJSSPE is currently developing its publication record and academic network.
