Peer Review Policy

1. Peer-Review Process

The Irsa Journal of Sports Studies and Physical Education (IJSSPE) follows a double-blind peer-review process to support the quality, fairness, and integrity of its published research.

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening to assess their suitability for the journal's scope, originality, academic quality, and compliance with the Author Guidelines.

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent to qualified reviewers with relevant subject expertise for independent evaluation.

2. Double-Blind Review

IJSSPE applies a double-blind peer-review model in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other during the review process.

Authors must remove identifying information from the main manuscript and submit author details separately in a Title Page, in accordance with the journal's Submission Preparation Checklist.

3. Review Criteria

Reviewers assess manuscripts based on their originality, relevance to the journal's scope, research methodology, accuracy of data analysis, interpretation of results, clarity of presentation, and contribution to the relevant field of knowledge.

Research ethics, the quality of references, and compliance with the journal's publication requirements may also be considered.

4. Editorial Decisions

Following peer review, the responsible editor makes a decision based on the reviewers' recommendations and an independent editorial assessment.

Possible decisions include acceptance, minor revisions, major revisions, or rejection.

Authors may be required to revise their manuscripts in response to reviewers' comments. Revised manuscripts may undergo further evaluation before a final decision is reached.

5. Review Timeline

The journal aims to complete the initial manuscript screening within 7–14 days. The peer-review process usually takes 2–4 weeks.

These timeframes are estimates and are not guaranteed. Actual processing times may vary depending on reviewer availability, manuscript complexity, the need for additional review, and the time required for authors to complete revisions.

6. Confidentiality and Impartiality

Editors and reviewers are expected to maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and conduct their assessments objectively and professionally.

Potential conflicts of interest must be disclosed and addressed to protect the fairness and independence of the review process.

7. Publication Responsibility

The final decision on publication rests with the responsible editor, taking into account the reviewers' comments, the manuscript's academic merit, and the journal's editorial and ethical requirements.

Submission to IJSSPE does not guarantee acceptance or publication.
